OSTEOPATHY AND POSTURE

Development of posture in children

Pre-birth position and the process of birth, along with trauma and accidents and family patterns all influence the development of posture in children.

The best time to check this by an Osteopath is 3-4 years old when the standing posture is starting to really set in.

By unravelling strain patterns from birth and other factors we can support the development of good posture which will help to avoid difficulties later in life.

Later on, posture is affected by other factors like the occlusion of our teeth and our study/working postures, as well as the accidents and injuries accumulating in the body.

It is always a good idea to get your Osteopath to run a detailed check on your spine to make sure that there is no developing kyphosis, lordosis, or scoliosis (different curvatures of the spine). In many cases resolution of underlying forces can really improve the tendency to these problems.
